Hilton Head, South Carolina
Skate Camp - FAQ
Note: We will send you detailed information about the tour in a
Pre-Departure Packet once you register.
What is the weather going to be like?
The average high temperature at the beginning of May is a warm 79 degrees Fahrenheit while the
average high at the beginning of October is about 70 degrees. The average low temperature is about
60 degrees during both tours. So, be prepared for warm and pleasant temperatures! While Hilton Head
does get a decent amount of rain, most of that falls in the summer months.
Which time of the year is best to go there?
Both the spring and fall are good times to be on Hilton Head. The summer can get too hot and
be too crowded with tourists.
What is the best way to get to the tour and where do we meet?
We will meet you either on Hilton Head itself, if you are driving or arriving early. We will
meet you at the airport in Savannah, Georgia if you are flying.
What should I do if I want to extend my vacation in the area?
We spend five days on Hilton Head. However, with its magnificent beaches it is certainly
worthwhile to extend your vacation by staying an extra night or two on the island. Savannah,
Georgia is our gateway city and a beautifully restored Civil War-era town. For a more active option
in the area, check out some of the other barrier islands by kayak or bicycle.
What ability level do I really need to be for this tour?
The Hilton Head Skate Camp is rated for
Beginners and Advanced Beginners
. If you have never even tried on inline skates, this is the Tour for you. If you are already
skating but working on mastering that heel brake or other techniques, this is the perfect way to do
so.
For what type of people would you recommend this tour?
The Hilton Head Skate Camp is designed to teach adults to inline skate. It is appropriate for
people who have never tried the sport and for those trying to improve their beginner skills.
Children are welcome in the company of adults. You do not need to be in great shape to attend this
Tour. However, you should be in basic physical health. Some tests you should be able to pass: stand
up without getting help; walk for several miles; fall on your hands and knees onto the grass from a
bent position.
