Lake Tahoe Tour - FAQ
Note: We will send you detailed information about the tour in a
Pre-Departure Packet once you register.
What is the weather going to be like?
During our tour dates the average historical high for the Lake Tahoe area is 77 degrees
Fahrenheit while the average low is 45. Precipitation in July and August totals less than one inch
of rain. So, expect warm and dry days and cool nights on this tour - perfect alpine weather.
Which time of the year is best to go there?
The Lake Tahoe area is famous for its winter skiing. For summer sports, however, July and
August are the months to be there as they are the warmest and driest.
What is the best way to get to the tour and where do we meet?
We have two meeting points. We will pick you up at the nearby Reno airport if you arrive the
morning of the tour or arrive early but stay in Reno. We will meet you at our first hotel if you
drive to the tour location or arrive earlier and are staying at our first hotel. Sacramento airport
is also only two hours away and can be used if you rent a car for the drive up to Tahoe. However,
we prefer Reno as it is closer and smaller but still has many flights.
What should I do if I want to extend my vacation in the area?
The Lake Tahoe area offers a wealth of activities and you could easily spend an extra week
there. Hiking and mountain biking are especially abundant. The nearby American river offers some of
the best whitewater rafting in California and you can make your arrangements directly in Tahoe. If
you are into gambling, Reno is a hop away and has some excellent hotel values. Finally, for some
excellent skating Sacramento has over 40 miles of paved trails that run along the American River to
Folsom and back the other side. If you do extend your stay, we recommend you rent a car.
What ability level do I really need to be for this tour?
This Tour is rated for
Advanced Beginners
and up. Each day regardless of activity we have two or three routes from which you can choose,
allowing you to pick your own distance and speed. Therefore, you don't have to be a fantastic
athlete to enjoy this tour. In fact, you don't need experience at all in hiking, mountain biking,
or kayaking. The skating is entirely on paved trails and is mostly flat with small hills. The paths
run along the Truckee River and the shore of Lake Tahoe.
For what type of people would you recommend this tour?
This Skating Multisport Tour is designed for those of you wanting to branch out from skating
and mix in a few other activities. The mountain biking, kayaking, and hiking are optional, so even
if you think one of these is not for you it shouldn't turn you away from this tour.
