Minnesota Learn-to-Skate Camp -
FAQ
Note: We will send you detailed information about the tour in a
Pre-Departure Packet once you register.
What is the weather going to be like?
The average high at the end of July in Rochester, Minnesota (near Lanesboro) is 80 degrees
Fahrenheit. The average low temperature is 59 degrees. Therefore, the days will be warm to hot and
the evenings pleasant.
Which time of the year is best to go there?
Any time not during Minnesota's winter is a good time to be there! (If you like snow sports,
you will even like the winters.)
What is the best way to get to the tour and where do we meet?
We meet you either at the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport if you are flying or at the tour
location of Lanesboro if you are driving. Minneapolis is two to three hours driving time north of
Lanesboro, which is located in southeast Minnesota just west of Wisconsin and north of Iowa.
What should I do if I want to extend my vacation in the area?
Minneapolis has some of the best - if not the best - paved trails of any city in the United
States. If you think you will be up for extra skating after the Tour that is one option. If you
don't want to skate any more, Minneapolis also offers the Mall of America. The best outdoor
adventure in Minnesota is the nationally-acclaimed Boundary Waters Canoe Area in the north of the
state. There is also excellent trail bicycling in both Minnesota and Wisconsin.
What ability level do I really need to be for this tour?
The Minnesota Skate Camp is rated for
Beginners and Advanced Beginners
. If you have never even tried on inline skates, this is the Tour for you. If you are already
skating but working on mastering that heel brake or other techniques, this is the perfect way to do
so.
For what type of people would you recommend this tour?
The Minnesota Skate Camp is designed to teach adults to inline skate. It is appropriate for
people who have never tried the sport and for those trying to improve their beginner skills.
Children are welcome in the company of adults. You do not need to be in great shape to attend this
Tour. However, you should be in basic physical health. Some tests you should be able to pass: stand
up without getting help; walk for several miles; fall on your hands and knees onto the grass from a
bent position.
