Learn-to-Skate Camp
We
are not running a Minnesota Camp in 2003
The small town of Lanesboro in southern Minnesota is encased in a
pocket surrounded by high bluffs, long ago carved out by the Root River. It is an ideal location to
learn to skate – serene, with very little commotion and lots of flat areas for us to practice our
new skating skills. The town is small enough to allow us to concentrate on skating but large enough
to provide alternative activities when we take off our skates. Lanesboro has been recognized as
“One of the 50 Best Outdoor Sports Towns” and one of the “100 Best Small Arts Towns” in the nation.
It may be small, but it has character!
Our Skate Camps have two goals: learn to skate and have fun doing it! Our average skater is 47
years old and we have taught youngsters as old as 71. Because this Tour is for Beginners and
Advanced Beginners, we have some participants who have never before put on skates and others who
have tried them but aren't yet comfortable. For more information on the Skate Camps click on Tours
by Type Menu.
We often travel to the nearby town of Harmony, where we rent out the old-fashioned roller rink
and play games, or skate on the local Root River paths. When not skating, we take advantage of all
Lanesboro has to offer: Amish tours, bike rides, massages, and more. While we stay in the quaint
Cottage House Inn with host Waldo Bunge and enjoy his home-cooked dinners, we also venture out to
partake in meals from a couple of the fine local restaurants, recently featured in the Minneapolis
Star Tribune.

page
on its history and current life. Come join us in beautiful southern Minnesota - it is never too
late to learn a new skill!
