Zephyr Adventures is always accepting applications for part-time Skate Tour Guides although we are not currently planning to hire for 2003.

Part-time Skate Tour Guide

We are always happy to receive applications for part-time guides, who run from four to eight trips each year. We receive many applications and are very selective in our hiring. We base our hiring on five major criteria. Please take a close look at these criteria to determine if you would make a great guide and would enjoy the experience. You yourself are our first line of selection. You can always improve your chances by becoming a Certified Skating Instructor or by attending one of our tours as a customer so that we get to know you. Guides can be based anywhere.

Qualifications:

Positive, outgoing, and friendly personality with the ability to interact with all types of people. This is our most important criteria.
Certified Skating Instructor status (see www.iisa.org for North America) or ability to become certified.
Flexibility of schedule that allows for running four to eight trips each year while making a living elsewhere (teachers, self-employed, retirees, and those with lots of vacation are good candidates).
Motivated by having fun, teaching skating, and interacting with people rather than making money. Guides will not get rich by just guiding.
Familiarity with the geographic location or languages of one or more of our tour locations is a plus.

Guiding Duties: Duties of our guides include: driving a support van, providing skating instruction, working with hotels and restaurants during the Tours, skating with customers, and generally making sure everyone (including the guide) is having a fantastic time.

What we Offer: We offer: an opportunity to travel, lead and meet a group of fun and outgoing inline skaters, and work with other energetic guides in a fantastic tour experience; all transportation, food, and lodging costs paid during the tour; a per-day payment; free skates, wheels, and bearings; intensive (fun) training. Our guides often rate their guiding experience as one of the highlights of their year.

What we Require: We require: a strong work ethic and attention to detail; a current drivers' license and excellent driving record; First Aid and CPR certification (you can get this fairly easily); excellent physical health including the ability to lift heavy luggage pieces to the top of a van; knowledge of skate and bicycle repair (we can train you).
